The things in life that are most enjoyable are the things you are passionate about.  The things you are best at and most successful in are the things you enjoy and are passionate about.  So it stands to reason that if you are looking for ways to be successful you need to find passion in what you are doing.  I will be the first to tell you it is not as easy as it sounds, especially in business.

There tend to be parts of your job you love and parts that you don’t enjoy at all.  The way for you to be most successful is to just do the parts you love full-time.  Obviously this is easier than it sounds.  If you can make this an ideal that is shared with your company, you will be successful.  There are people that love to research, and other people that love to be creative, and there are even people that could research all day long.  The key is finding these people and getting them all under the same roof so that you have a company full of passionate people.  People who are working not just to make a living but because they love it, and you love it.

Obviously, that is an extreme, yet promising, model but there are other ways to incorporate the same ideal.

• Schedule time for your favorite part of your job.  This way you always know it is coming and it will make the rest of the time go by a little easier.
• Brainstorm about what you can be doing to use your passion to help you and the company you are with.  If your employer sees value in what you are doing they might just give you some more time to focus on it.
• Be the best by knowing the most.  Pay attention to what experts in the field are saying and publishing so you always know what is going.  This way when you do get your chance to shine you will shine bright.
